An update on former Creekside Middle School teacher Brian Mathis, who went missing this week. The following message came from the admin of the email in the missing flyer shared on CVN yesterday:

“As you know, Brian was declared missing last Friday. And we are so sorry to have to tell everyone that he died the previous Sunday, 10/29/2017 in an early morning home fire. He was visiting a friend in his Glen Park neighborhood and that is why his car was parked a half mile from his apartment up the hill.

Our darling Brian being Brian, had forgotten to take his ID with him. This is why it took so long to track down his movements, walk the neighborhood….work with the SFPD, Vallejo PD, Rickie the SF Medical Examiner, Brian’s wonderful family….put 2 + 2 together….then confirm it was indeed him.

This has been a very hard week and this is a shocking reminder how precious all life is. Brian was a passionate educator, silly actor and caring friend. He will be missed by many.”
